The problem is that, as we saw in previous posts, these profiles are one of the most demanded. Finding good developers is hard enough for a big company, but it seems like an impossible mission for a startup.  <\/p>\n<p>Not only are entrepreneurs less likely to offer salaries and benefits like big companies, but their tolerance for bad hiring is very low. A large company can make a mistake and hire a bad developer and although it will cost it dearly (tens of thousands of dollars according to studies), it has other people on its team to compensate. <\/p>\n<p>A startup will probably hire only one or two developers, so if you hire the wrong developer, your entire development team will be compromised (especially if the development \u00abteam\u00bb is made up of only one person, who is not competent).<\/p>\n<p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 puede hacer entonces una startup para contratar buenos desarrolladores? Si hablamos de una startup de tecnolog\u00eda, lo ideal es que uno de los socios fundadores sea una persona de TI o conozcan a un desarrollador de confianza. Si se trata de un emprendedor con una idea magnifica para realizar un producto de software, pero no tienen ning\u00fan conocimiento de TI, sinceramente le recomiendo buscar un socio de confianza, alg\u00fan amigo o ex compa\u00f1ero de la universidad o del trabajo del que sepa que es bueno.  <\/p>\n<p>Para el escenario m\u00e1s com\u00fan, donde el socio se maneja en el tema de desarrollo de software, pero no tiene tiempo para hacerlo todo \u00e9l, de nuevo la mejor opci\u00f3n es trabajar con gente que conozca y que sepa que es buena, ya sea por trabajos anteriores o por referencias cercanas y confiables.<\/p>\n<p>Ahora, como todos sabemos, el mundo no es ideal, entonces, si ya se le acabaron los referidos o no tiene o son muy caros y necesita contratar a alguien, aqu\u00ed mis recomendaciones:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Usualmente para una startup es m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil conseguir tiempo que dinero, as\u00ed que t\u00f3mese el tiempo para buscar bien y encontrar a alguien bueno con un sueldo razonable. Esta primera o primeras contrataciones son cr\u00edticas, al punto que el \u00e9xito o fracaso del emprendimiento pueden depender de elegir a la persona correcta. No hay que desesperarse y contratar al primero que llega, eval\u00fae decenas (si decenas) de candidatos y consiga al correcto.  <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 No puedo evitar recomendar en este escenario utilizar una herramienta como Evalart para evaluar a los programadores. As\u00ed podr\u00e1 evaluar a muchos candidatos y validar su capacidad de forma objetiva. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Para una startup con muy bajo presupuesto (el 99% de ellas) vale la pena buscar con calma a un programador junior pero muy bueno. He visto programadores que saliendo de la universidad pueden hacer cosas incre\u00edbles, pero s\u00f3lo 1 de 50 es as\u00ed, por lo que, de nuevo, insisto en la importancia de tomarse el tiempo y evaluar bien. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 A veces los emprendedores sienten que no tienen nada que ofrecer, oficinas min\u00fasculas (si es que hay oficina), cero beneficios, sueldos promedio o bajos, etc. Pero de hecho una startup puede ofrecer cosas que ninguna empresa grande puede ofrecer. M\u00e1s detalles a continuaci\u00f3n.  <\/p>\n<p>Una startup puede ofrecer a sus desarrolladores varias cosas que la hace atractivas y que una empresa gigante no puede hacer:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Grandes responsabilidades para un perfil junior. Un programador junior en una gran empresa ver\u00e1 una parte min\u00fascula de un gran sistema. Un programador junior en una startup va a desarrollar el producto completo o gran parte de \u00e9l. Para muchos, esto es muy atractivo.   <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Similar al punto de arriba, es muy probable que en la startup pueda ver cosas m\u00e1s interesantes, tener m\u00e1s libertad de acci\u00f3n y de proponer ideas. Podr\u00e1 investigar diversas tecnolog\u00edas y aprender mucho. <\/p>\n<p>\u2022 No importa que tan bueno sea un programador, para escalar posiciones en una empresa grande va a necesitar muchos a\u00f1os. Sin embargo, en una startup est\u00e1 el sue\u00f1o de que si la cosa va bien (y estos primeros programadores tendr\u00e1n mucho que ver en esto) quiz\u00e1s en poco tiempo ya puedan liderar equipos y estar en la c\u00faspide de una pir\u00e1mide que crece r\u00e1pidamente. El emprendedor tiene que creer en su sue\u00f1o y transmitir esa visi\u00f3n, ambici\u00f3n y sue\u00f1os a todos los que lo acompa\u00f1an en la aventura.  <\/p>\n<p>Un \u00faltimo consejo antes de terminar. Una startup puede crecer r\u00e1pidamente (aunque es m\u00e1s probable que muera miserablemente en los primeros a\u00f1os) y por lo tanto, los primeros desarrolladores son los candidatos a tomar posiciones de liderazgo en el futuro, un futuro quiz\u00e1s cercano si las cosas van bien. Tener ojo con esto, un desarrollador muy bueno programando no es necesariamente un buen l\u00edder de desarrollo. Tener en cuenta esto incluso en las primeras contrataciones e ir evaluando quienes podr\u00edan tomar roles de liderazgo.
