How do you interpret and integrate geological, geophysical, and geomechanical data to identify the ideal location for drilling an oil well?
The candidate is expected to explain how they would integrate information from different disciplines, such as geology, geophysics, and geomechanics, for reservoir evaluation and to provide accurate data on the ideal well location. They are also expected to mention reservoir evaluation, well direction and drilling depth, and geographic and environmental constraints.
How would you ensure that oil well drilling projects are completed within the planned budget and schedule?
The candidate is expected to describe their approach to ensuring budget and schedule compliance, including their experience managing and coordinating teams, efficiently identifying and resolving critical project obstacles, and their ability to make accurate projections and achieve good use of resources.
Can you share an example of how you solved an unforeseen problem in an oil well drilling project that led to a satisfactory solution?
The candidate should explain in detail how, during the execution of a drilling project, they identified an unforeseen critical problem and how they solved it, demonstrating their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Ideally, the candidate should explain how their solution added value to the project and what they successfully achieved.
What has been the biggest contribution you have made to your petroleum engineering team on a project?
The candidate is expected to describe a specific event in which they made an outstanding contribution to their petroleum engineering team on any drilling project, talking about what they did in terms of their effort, commitment, and technical skills.
