Interview Questions
How do you develop and implement a quality control plan for a production process?
The candidate is expected to describe how they define the control points, acceptance criteria, and procedures of the plan, and how they get the production team to apply it. They should explain how they verify that the plan works and how they adjust it when they detect deviations.
How do you plan and carry out an audit of a production process, and what do you do with the findings?
The candidate is expected to explain how they prepare the audit, what evidence they review to verify compliance with quality standards, and how they document the findings. They should describe how they communicate the results and follow up on corrective actions.
How do you investigate and resolve a quality problem that keeps recurring in a production process?
The candidate is expected to describe how they gather data to identify the root cause, which corrective and preventive actions they propose, and how they confirm the problem does not happen again. A real example of a situation they resolved would strengthen their answer.
What experience do you have with the ISO 9001 standard, and how do you ensure compliance in day-to-day operations?
The candidate is expected to describe their experience applying ISO 9001 or other quality standards, for example in documenting procedures or in audits. They should explain how they help the team meet the standard's requirements in their daily work.
Which continuous improvement tools, such as Six Sigma, have you used to reduce defects or variability in a process?
The candidate is expected to name the continuous improvement tools they have applied, how they chose them based on the problem, and what measurable results they achieved. They should show they can work with the continuous improvement team so that improvements are sustained over time.
How do you work with production and other departments to improve a process when your findings require changes in how they work?
The candidate is expected to explain how they present findings with data, listen to the concerns of other departments, and build agreements to implement changes. They should demonstrate effective communication and teamwork to get improvements adopted.
How do you analyze a process's quality data to detect trends and decide what actions to take?
The candidate is expected to describe how they collect and organize quality data, which indicators they review, and how they interpret trends to prioritize actions. They should illustrate with an example how their analysis led to a decision that improved the quality of the process.
